Pre-order 'Sandcastles' by Hamna Labeeb

In 1997, Selena Rocha, Trisha Fernandez and Ria Pinto meet at Goa Medical College and embark on their dreams to be skilled doctors. Soon, their friendship and sisterhood surpass their differences. As womanhood and love finds them, their lives are intertwined in unexpected ways, testing their strength as women and friends in the face of loss, grief, guilt and promises.

Fifteen years later, one rainy morning, Selena Rocha wakes up to find the past she had buried a decade ago reappearing in the form of two men. She must choose between calm lies and destructive truths, to protect her twelve-year-old twins, Nayna and Ruby, from both. Meanwhile, Neil Shaw returns after years of self-imposed exile to redeem what he foolishly lost. However, it demands much more than his repentance. Ten years behind bars, Dr. Vincent Gomez has to forgive one person now—himself. And there is only one way to do it—open a Pandora's box.

The three of them must take a walk down memory lane, in the very place that was their making and undoing, as a final attempt at reconciliation.

Subtly interlacing the sensitive and strong layers of family, friendship and love with the resurgent strength of women, Sandcastles weaves a tale affirming that forgiveness and acceptance are the ultimate forms of love.

Dr. Hamna Labeeb has been writing poems and stories long before she decided to be a physician or a therapist. Formerly published under the pseudonym ‘Sana Rose’, she has authored two novels and several poems, published in various journals, anthologies and three collections. A homoeopathic physician-turned-psychologist, she believes in healing through words, be it through poems, stories or therapy and explores various types of relationship dynamics, dysfunction and trauma in her writing, aiming to destigmatise mental health care. She also dabbles with marketing content, manuscript editing and mentoring, besides psychotherapy and creative writing. She lives in Kadalundi, a coastal town in Calicut, Kerala, with her husband and daughters.
